Music Therapy
Music Therapy
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. (American Music Therapy Association definition, 2005)
Our Ballard Academy music therapist is a board certified and university trained professional who helps clients to measurably improve their lives through music and other related exercises. Our therapist uses singing, songwriting, listening to and discussing music and moving to music to achieve measurable treatment goals and objectives. Some of the areas where music therapy can really improve a clients life include cognitive functioning, motor skills, emotional and affective development, as well as behavioral and social skills. Our therapist can also teach adapted lessons to persons with autism, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, stroke patients, and people with other special needs.
